Destruction

i wonder if i ever knew you at all.
while trying so hard to build a bridge,
unknowingly, another was burnt.
while the lights were screaming,
and the horizon blew up in fire,
perhaps there never was a time,
and we never took the time.
we were both passing strangers,
on the boardwalk when there was none.
in passing words and broken links,
you guessed me and i, to you.
when did we stop and destruction begin?
