Dinner For One

Table for two,
Dinner for one.
Two table settings,
One meal ordered.
Two glasses served,
Only one was filled.

Quietly she sat,
Table for two.
Head bent down,
Only hands moved.
Piece by piece,
Slowly in no hurry.

Sipping the glass of red,
Without words.
Staying in the corner,
On her own.
Loneliness was not an option,
Sadness became a habit.

No longer two,
At a table for two.
No conversations,
No laughter over red.
Quiet acknowledgment,
Days of two drained out.
