Daniel Goleman's EI model outlines 4 main EI constructs:
1. Self-awareness - the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using gut feelings to guide decisions
2. Self-management - involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to changing circumstances
(be zen- say ooooooom)
3. Social-awareness - the ability to sense, understand and react to other's emotions while comprehending social networks
4. Relationship management - the ability to inspire, influence and develop others while managing conlict
Goleman includes a set of emotional competencies within each construct of EI. Emotional competencies are not innate talents but rather learned capabilities that must be worked on and developed to achieve outstanding performance. Goleman posits that individuals are born with a general emotional intelligence that determines their potential for learning emotional competencies
(i guess EQ is like a person's character, formed by the environment, moulded by events that take place to shape us and probably in part, inborn; Some people just do not have the kind of ability it takes to judge the emotions of another party or even themselves and consequently are unable to perform the correct actions to facilitate the situation).
Alright, I accept that some people are just not as well endowed in EQ. I accept that it's not their fault that they're behaving in this manner. They're just not as well informed due to their lack in ability.
